Frequently Asked Questions

Popular Questions

  • Why should I insulate my home?

Installing insulation is probably one of the best investments you can make for your property! Apart from helping to keep your house warm in the winter and cool in the summer, there are a number of other benefits. These include a reduction of your homes overall energy consumption, a healthier home and savings on your monthly power bill.
  • Where should I insulate?

For the optimum in energy efficiency, a home should be well insulated from top to bottom. That means insulation should be placed in the walls, the roof and under the floor to help seal the homes thermal envelope.
  • What type of insulation should I choose

The whole idea behind home insulation is to measurably improve your homes energy efficiency. There is specially designed insulation for your roof, floors and walls. We recommend Safe-R Insulation products, Warmafloor, CosyWall and JetStream Max which are the perfect products for New Zealand homes. They are easy to install, cost effective and deliver high performance.
  • How Do I Insulate My Walls

Blowing insulation in walls represents one of the best ways to improve the energy efficiency of your home and save money. In most New Zealand houses there is a gap between your interior walls and extior. We simply drill a small hole in your exterior wall to blow the insulation in and then fill this after so you'd never know.
  • What is blown insulation?

A blown-in system is a process to install insulation. It’s extremely quick and pumps the insulation into spaces to ensure that they’re well filled at the right density to work at the optimum performance.

Wall Insulation

  • Why Insulate my walls?

External walls account for up to 35% of heat less from the average house. With an uninsulated cavity, heat can easily escape meaning it requires more energy to maintain a comfortable temperature. A cavity filled with insulation can help reduces this heat loss, making the house warmer and reduce or in some cases remove the need to use heaters and fireplaces to heat your premises.
  • Will wall insulation help with sound proofing?

Yes, By insulating your wall cavities you also gain the acoustic benefits. This helps to reduce noise from external sources including cars, planes or even just noisey neighbours.

Roof Insulation

  • What's the best insulation product for my roof?

We recommend Jet Stream Max for most roof cavities. It's superior to batting or blanket, as it covers the full ceiling – without joints, gaps, thermal bridging, or vented cavities commonly found between linings and batting or blankets. Batting or blanket materials need at least two layers to achieve the same installed thermal effectiveness of Jet Stream Max.

Floor Insulation

  • What's the best product to insulate my floor?

We recommend Warmafloor Insulation, a polyester fibre underfloor insulation blanket manufactured specifically for placing between floor joists, against the underside of the floor. This floor insulation blanket has superior strength in both directions compared to some other typical polyester floor blankets or batting.
